Bob Peterson
For those who don’t know me I am Bob Peterson. My wife Cindy and I grew up in New York State and met when we were in college at Syracuse, NY. We were married in 1979. By means of a career in forestry the Lord led us west by various bumps and bruises, leaps and bounds to Michigan and then to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. We lived in Rapids for 21 years before moving this past summer to Polonia, in part to be closer to Community Church. We have four children and have been “empty nesters” for a while. The two men and two women who we call “children” are married with families of their own.
Although I feel like my wife Cindy and I are reasonably recent additions to Community Church, we have been welcomed here for about 5 years. We started visiting this fellowship in the fall of 2016 and began attending regularly in 2017; soon after that committing ourselves to love, support and serve this local congregation as members. You have probably seen us up front singing as this is one way we are enabled to minister.
Both Cindy and I had the seeds of the gospel planted when we were young but were impacted to understand and respond to it more fully through campus ministries at college. It wasn’t until I was in my thirties, though, that I really committed my life to the Lord. By God’s grace we have continued to grow in faith, learning to trust in God’s word and yield to His persistent loving discipline and guidance.
God’s word and experience in the passing of years have impressed on me the critical function and importance of the church of Jesus Christ. We are collectively more than individuals with a relationship to God. It is His intention to use us together as a united body of believers to faithfully preach the gospel, protect the message preserved in the scriptures, meet the physical and spiritual needs of His people, and provide faithful testimony to a lost world. The Lord calls men to take on responsibility for encouraging, shepherding, and serving His church; and I believe that He has prompted me to step forward at this time to help how I can.
